Hilarity, spending and saving

A Twitter friend retweeted this video of Steven Jacobs, a morning show weather presenter, being "attacked" by a big chook last night. I watched it at bedtime, which was foolish because I couldn't stop laughing, even when I was just thinking about it. All that laughing made me too overstimulated to sleep.

I watched it again this morning at work and giggled to myself like a nutter. I can't even explain why I find it so hysterical, but I do. I think it might be the flailing.

I lost a lens from my glasses when I was in Brisbane and I have only just got around to getting it replaced (I have spares obviously). I was pleasantly surprised that it only cost me $60. My health insurance paid about half of the cost, which I wasn't expecting because I'd already claimed for lenses this year.  Pretty happy about that.

I went also went to Priceline on my lunch break to buy some pressed powder because I had used up every last crumb of what I had, and it was 50 per cent off. Wooh! I also stocked up on one of my skincare essentials and it was 20 per cent off. I'm spaving left, right and centre today (spaving = spending + saving).

November: day 13

Do you know that BBC series Walk on the Wild Side with the silly voices dubbed over footage of animals in the wild? You know, Allan! Allan! Allan!? If not, just Google 'Allan Allan Allan'. Really.

It's quite a few years old now, but still funny. I can't recall why Luke and I looked it up on YouTube a couple of weeks ago, but we still cackle like the two cranes at the two-minute mark of the video. They're among our favourites. Those guys are funny every single time. S'not a lion; issa a giraffe.

JBPM: day16

I've had a migraine for two days, but several glasses of sparkling wine and natter with the girls after work helped to get rid of it. Good riddance!

We're still having a rather chilly winter round these parts, but today the sun was warm on my back  as I strolled along William Street at lunch time.

Several people complimented me on my dress today (another recent bargain purchase), although we couldn't agree whether it was blue or green. I and the tag say green, everyone else says blue.

Oh! I nearly forgot! My friend Gillian shared this adorably amusing animated video on Facebook today. The bit with the plungers is my favourite, particularly where the pig marches off with the plungers stuck on it, and its head held high.

Mossy find, ace meal, hamster spill

The highlight of my Sunday was finding some moss growing in a bag of potting mix. No, really. The open bag has been sitting on the fire escape for ages - since the last time I planted up a terrarium. I poked my nose into into the bag because I needed to top up the soil in one of my indoor plants. And there it was, a little tuft of spongy green.

The abovementioned terrarium failed to thrive, but I've now planted the moss into it, so hopefully it will get a second wind.

I made another tasty and ridiculously easy recipe from Pinterest - maple mustard chickenor Man-Pleasing Chicken as the blogger calls it. It did please my man. He said it was "ace".

I laughed so hard at the hamster getting spat out of his fast-spinning wheel in this video (about 30 secs in) that I couldn't breathe and my head started aching (thankfully temporarily). The sleep running dog before it is hilarious too.

Relief and vicarious happy dance

I recently started to worry (for reasons I won't bother explaining) that we were going to be turfed out of our flat so it could be renovated. I was poised to be devastated at having to  leave my home of the past 8 1/2 years - I really would be devastated! I love this place. I never want to leave! This flat and this location are a major source of contentment for me. Sure, I'd be happy elsewhere eventually too, but it just wouldn't be the same.

But, good news! We don't have to move! I'm so relieved!

In lieu of a happy dance, I bring you a video of Tom Jones dancing up a storm in 1968. I'm incapable of watching it without laughing my head off, and I'm not easily moved to fits of  laughter. Wait for the dancing at around the 1:17 mark. Hil-AIR-ious.

Not actually gleeful

To be honest with you, I'm struggling to find any glee in today. I'm really tired, I'm bored at work and now I'm grumpy.

So, here's a video with ducklings in it. It's amusing, but it does also make you a bit fearful for their safely.  Fear not. No ducks were harmed.

I see a little silhouette of a clam

And now for another funny video. No, not Angel this time. It's the Muppets singing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Love it.

(I couldn't get the video to fit - click on it to watch it on YouTube)
