Yay...and dang

Coz it's yellow like lemon

This afternoon I got a craving for lemon tart, thanks to Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream...mmm, tangy (to sniff, not eat).

But since I was at work, I thought I'd make do with a piece of lemon slice from the bakery near my office. It was approaching 5.00 pm and they were closing up when I got there. Everything had been removed from their display cabinet - except the lemon slice.

That was a gleeful coincidence, but sadly the slice itself was disappointingly lacking in lemony tang. Don't buy lemon slice from Kenny's on Queen Steet, OK?

Hmm maybe there is a reason it was last left on display?

That is so dissapointing when you have a hankering for something in particular and it turns out average. Like when you read a menu and see something that makes you salivate only to be dissapointed with the meal.

But do buy their vanilla slice! Just scrape off the icky icing and it's one of the best around.

For a dead-easy lemon slice recipe have a look HERE.
I'm not a sweet tooth but I will go out of my way to buy lemons just to have an excuse to make this scrumptious, easy, delicious slice.
Make double the recipe, it goes down without touching the sides ;)

Hi db. The whole tray of lemon slice was in tact too, so I'm guessing everyone else knows to steer clear.

It was very disappointing indeed.

Hey Jen. Thanks for the tip but I'm not a vanilla slice eater. Not huge on custard, especially cold. *shudders*. Other people here eat their vanilla slices though.

Hi Jayne. Make? Make a slice? What on earth are you talking about?

Ok, technically all you have to do is throw things in a bowl and then chuck it into the oven.... :P

Now I have a hankering for a lemon pie. And we have a tree full of fresh lemons at the moment too!

Duly noted! Definitely not a fan of un-lemony lemon slice (lemon is one of my favourite flavours, so it has to be -good-!). The worst offence to me is synthetic lemon.
