Freaky photos

You know how I like little coincidences? Yes? Well, see this flower? I took the photo in the Alexandra Gardens on my way home from work tonight.

Then I got home and logged onto Myspace to see that my friend Victoria (the same Victoria who comments here - hello!) had uploaded a staggeringly similar photo. Too weird.

Here's some other photos I took today and yesterday.

The giant chandelier in Warburton Lane

Window boxes

Little Collins Street

Any glee to share, people?

I think you did a great job on the flower pic, I have a friend who is a pro photographer and those kind of shots are her favourite, she has done some wonderful ones of frangipanis, Tulips and Gerbras. One of my best friends wants to paint her front door that shade of outrageous pink, but is sure her husband will have a fit !

Lovely ... absolutely brilliant!

My glee for today are the birds at my feeder. It's very cold here ... below freezing all day. I put extra food out for the little creatures and they all came ... eating and munching away. Then ... they sang! My heart soared!

Have a good weekend!

This is going to sound totally stupid, but I was shocked to see your pictures of brick buildings and little charming streets in Australia. I'd somehow gotten it into my tiny brain that it was all outback with kangaroos, maybe a few wooden buildings. Who knew? Oh, and the big opera house in Sydney. And the dentist's office from Finding Nemo.

You've expanded my horizons considerably! :-)

I'll be back to check out your great blog soon - lots to explore!

Hi Abbeysmum. Thank you! I love the close up flower photos too. Does your friend have a website?

I can't imagine too many men appreciating a hot pink front door (probably not many women either!). t would certainly be eye catching.

Hi Victoria. I'm kinda pleased that my photos can make you miss the city actually!

Hello and welcome dam buster. Thanks. I really like Little Collins St too. Initially I wasn't pleased that the building in the background of the photo was almost faded out due to the sun, but now I quite like it. It's a ghost building.

Hello Small Footprints. Thanks. Aw, you made the birds happy. They were thanking you for filling their tummies.

Hello Fantastic Forrest. Thanks for stopping by. Happy to help expand your horizons! Part of the reason that you have that picture of Australia in your head could be that the images of Australia that are beamed to the rest of the world (on TV, in ads, at the movies) have a tendency to play up the outback aspect, which is far removed from the day to day reality of the vast majority of Australians. We are overwhelmingly coastal urban dwellers.

I love your photo of the window boxes. The red and green against the brick are a beautiful contrast.

Thanks Barbara! I love that sort of contrast too. More and more people are living in the heart of Melbourne these days (hardly ayone did when I first arrived in the early 90s), so flower boxes are becoming more common. It's a nice touch.
