Fishnets ahoy!

New York cabaret star Meow Meow

So, the Gangsters' Ball is over...I feel a little deflated now after all that build up, but it was a fun night. Great performers, great music, a fantastic venue (love The Forum) and heaps of eye-popping outfits.

There were men in all black with white ties and braces, zoot suits, fedoras and wingtips, and women in everything from figure-hugging evening gowns, fringed flapper dresses and full skirts with stiff petticoats to corsets and burlesque-style lingerie. It's not every day you see a woman strolling along Flinders Street in French knickers and suspenders! I reckon sales of fishnets in Melbourne would have spiked this week too. They were everywhere (including on my very own pins).

Anyway, I said I'd post a photo of my outfit so here you go:

Chickened out on the really red lippie, but this was still pretty red

Imaginary boyfriend...I'm doin' it right

Hi Dierdre and AWIP. Thanks. The gloves were fun but not very practical - too slippery! And you have to peel them off and put them back on when you go to the loo.

I look silly in hats though - a bit like a cancer patient because I look like I have no hair.
